Yanick Herzog

Exploring sounds and giving films his distinctive, musical fingerprint is what makes him a frequent collaborator of visual artists. His fascination for electronic soundscapes and the warmth of acoustic sounds push him to explore the boundaries of their sonic possibilities.
Recent works of his include Aiyana de Vree’s dystopian feminist drama «Alleine kommst du nicht weit genug», Basil Burger’s coming of age drama «Herr Karlsen» and the experimental shortfilm «The Black Cat» where he served both as a producer and composer of the film.

Currently he is enrolled in the film music program at Zurich University of the Arts and has been working as a freelance composer over the past year.

Yanick is a composer, arranger and producer based in Basel, Switzerland.

At the age of six, he started his musical career as a drummer in school bands. Through intense training on the drumset (in the styles of rock and pop) and classical music on the piano, he discovered a fascination for film music. During his studies at the Zurich University of the Arts, he has composed several short films in the genres of animation, documentary, and fiction which have been selected and nominated at festivals all around the world. He graduated from his bachelor-studies in 2020 under Till Löffler and Olav Lervik.

At the moment he works as a composers-assistant for swiss filmcomposer Balz Bachmann, where he arranged and assisted in filmproductions such as LES HISTOIRES D'AMOUR DE LIV S. (directed by Anna Luif, production by Beauvoir Films) and 8 TAGE IM AUGUST (directed by Samuel Perriard, production by Catpics).

Besides working on compositions and arrangements, he joined the award-winning artist JODOQ  to form a band of four film-composers which led to performances at M4MUSIC Festival, BSCENE Festival and a concert performance with the Symphony Orchestra Basel where he performed as a Pianist.

Currently he is enrolled in the film music program at Zurich University of the Arts and has been working as a freelance composer over the past year.
