Yanick is a Swiss film composer living and working in Basel. His music often circles around acoustic instruments like low woodwinds and strings, drawn to how delicate or biting they can sound depending on how they're played. He regularly records them with solo instrumentalists or small ensembles in the studio. Working with modular synthesizers, he explores systems within systems, where sonorities meet, merge or diverge.

His most recent works include composing music for the documentary The Blue We Share directed by Lola Scurlock and Enrica Perez’s feature film Sobre El Acantilado. He is currently composing the music for Michaela Kobsa-Mark's documentary Halbgeschwister.

Before composing, Yanick trained as a graphic designer, which still influences how he thinks about proportion and aesthetics in music. Wanting to chase his growing interest in film music, he went on to earn a Master's degree in Composition for Film, Theatre and Media at Zurich University of the Arts. A session recording with musicians from London at Abbey Road Studios left a lasting impression on him and he's wanted to return ever since. For the first part of 2027 he's fortunate to be granted an Artist Residency in London by the Aargauer Kuratorium, where he'll develop his musical style further, drawing on London's music scene.
